omaha-1IFM Volleyball Combine, May 3rd & 4th, Tennessee State University Gentry Center

A recruiting combine is a day which has a combination of skill testing and playing that is observed by college coaches who are interested in recruiting athletes to play volleyball at their college. This event will help student athletes find out their true potential through comprehensive academic opportunities and athletic training to further the educational possibilities through leadership and esteem training.

The May 3rd session is open to any 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade volleyball player from any High School or Junior Club. The May 4th session is for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade volleyball players.

All tournaments will be held at Alliant University except the Grass/Friendship event at SD City College.

omaha-2Omaha Starlings Director Shannon Walker gives her players inspirational quotes every week, and one of her favorites is this one from legendary Green Bay Packers Coach Vince Lombardi: “We will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while that we can never attain it. But along the way, we shall catch excellence.”
Under the guidance of Walker, who began coaching with the club in 2000 and took over as director in 2007, Starlings Omaha has done just that. They’ve won five championships at Starlings Nationals – four at the 18s level and another with their 14s. Starlings Omaha has also sent more than 30 players on to play in college, including Samara West, a 6-4 middle blocker who was a freshman redshirt this year at Iowa State, and Colleen Ourada, a 6-1 outside hitter who was a senior in 2013 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
Walker works hard to cultivate a family atmosphere within her teams, and the bond is strong. In West’s case, it was so strong that she stayed with Starlings despite being encouraged to transfer to a more elite club when being recruited by University of Nebraska, one of the country’s top programs.
“She said, ‘No, ’” Walker says. “She told them, ‘Anything I can do with [another club] I can do with Starlings, and Starlings is my family.’”

How about volunteering in the Bay Area?

If you are looking for a paid internship between high school and college, it might be difficult. But as you are looking now, you could have success.
I would search the web for government (.gov), non-proift (.org) and educational (.edu) sites.
The commercial sites (.com) would have a bunch of junk in them and want to charge you for something.
It is als better to start from the top and work your way down. As an example, I found the website below by first going to the U.S. Department of Education website.
Here is a link to the Students

    • I went to,then the WannaPlay link, then the USA Volleyball regions link, then the RVA link, then the north Texas section of the map. You can use the link below for the North Texas region of USAV. I went to the juniors teams link. You can search on your own. I went to a team tha …him but give him time. He is also a big time college referee. He travels all around the country working all of the big matches.
He will tell you if TAV is a match for you. Or help you find a better match for you. If you email him, tell Gordon said hi. I have know him almost 30 years now.

I want to play in college, but i don't play for my high school team. i play club ( this is going to be my 3rd year) and i'm going to be on the national team this year. i didn't play for school this year, my junior year, because i forgot to find out the try out dates and when i found out it was too late. to be able to play in college, do i need to play volleyball my senior year of hs?

    • My advice to you, Its best to play your senior year. It will give you a better volleyball background. And it will higher your chance to play for a college team. However, playing club is even better. Reason being is because you have a lot of tournaments, you travel and you get more skill training …nd played all through high school. All the practicing helped, and during all the club tournaments i was noticed by different scouts. Im a junior in college, and Thankfully im still playing college volleyball :) Like i said, play your senior year and keep it up with club ball. Hope this helped :)

  • Avatar Taja B What is Club Volleyball?

I'm graduating this year from high school, and I still want to play volleyball after high school. But I heard that club volleyball is provided at a lot of colleges and universities, and I'm interested in joining a sport that doesn't have as much competitiveness as you would expect in varsity.

What is club volleyball in general?

    What are the qualifications?

Do you still have to try out in order to be a part of it, or could you just join whether you were at a beginners level or Varsity level?

    • Club volleyball is run by USAV. Most people think of club as being 18 and under. You can play adults in USAV also. When you get to college, you can go on the web site and the WannaPlay link and follow it to the map. Click where you are going to college and find out the teams in …that do not work out at volleyball every day.
BB is competitive although not as much as the above levels.
B tries to be competitive, but it just not as high level volleyball.
If you find a group to play with, teams are different. Some practice. Some only play tournaments.
